Wadsworth Falls State Park is a 285-acre public recreation area and protected landscape on the Coginchaug River in Middletown and Middlefield, Connecticut. Developed in the early 20th century as part of Colonel Clarence S. Wadsworth’s Long Hill estate, the land reflected his conservation goals and was overseen through the charitable Rockfall Corporation. After his death, the corporation donated 267 acres to Connecticut, forming the basis of the park. Known for woodland trails, river scenery, and two waterfalls, the park also preserves part of the former estate. In 1996, about 130 acres in Middletown were added to the National Register of Historic Places as part of the Wadsworth Estate Historic District.
