The "WWII Memorial Tree" stands in honor on the former Girardet property corner. Planted by Commodore Bunny Gubner circa 1945, it memorialized ENS David Girardet USN and all WWII veterans living in Lake Ronkonkoma. The tree was intended to remain a landmark that veterans would first see when home again and to reflect honor and respect for all veterans in the country. All veterans are welcome there and will continue to be honored by Lake Ronkonkoma.
