The James McBean Residence in Rochester, Minnesota is a Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Usonian house and one of the Marshall Erdman Prefab Houses. It is especially notable as the second standard design, Prefab No. 2, a model represented by only two known houses: this one and the Walter Rudin House. Both share the same floor plan and differ only in minor details such as paint color and site placement. Built of concrete block with horizontal board-and-batten siding, the house features clerestory windows beneath the soffit that make its broad, flat cantilevered roof appear to float, with a carport completing the design.
