This spot marks the location of the California–Oregon Road, the main artery of travel for pioneers in the fifties, blazed by them and marked so that others recognizing the roads and trails might safely follow; at this place it was later followed by The Pacific Highway, linking the past with the future, and it is dedicated to the pioneers of Northern California.
