Built in 1880 by cotton factor S. D. Rainey in the midwestern rococo style, this home became, from 1886 onward, a center of social life as the R. S. Terry Home. It was recorded as a Texas Historic Landmark in 1966 and entered in the National Register of Historic Places in 1971.
