The citizens of Fayette County erected this memorial in honor of veterans who served in the Armed Forces of the United States of America and as a lasting memorial to gallant servicemen who gave their lives so that others might live in peace. Those named are from World War I, Searcy E. Jones, Russell Padgett, and Albert Posey; from World War II, Edwin Adams, Jesse Adams, Dewitt B. Barge, Loy Bishop, Emerson Callaway, Marion Chandler, Tom Hand, Louis Kelly, Merrell Mask, William Morris, John H. McEachern, Norman Putman, W.F. Smith, and Linton Tidwell; from the Korean War, Harry B. Dettmering, Charles Morris, and William M. Satterfield; and from the Vietnam War, Tom Boren, David P. Dodson, Joseph L. Hyatt, Gary Pate, Raymond Simpson, Darriel Thompson, and Jimmy Williams.
