Twadell Mountain is a 2,293-foot peak in New York's Catskill Mountains, north-northeast of East Branch, with Rock Rift Mountain and Baxter Mountain nearby. It became notable for a former fire lookout on its summit. In May 1910, the Forest, Fish and Game Commission erected a 45-foot modified windmill tower there, and by 1916 a small observer's cabin had been added. In 1919, the original structure was replaced with a 47-foot Aermotor LS40 steel lookout tower. Fire lookout operations continued until the end of the 1972 season. The tower still stands on private land, closed to the public.
