Snowmobiling is a popular winter activity in Wisconsin, and the Mountain-Bay State Trail is a major link in the state's more than 22,000 miles of snowmobile trails, allowing travel of over 70 miles from Weston to Pulaski. In 1924, Carl Eliason of Sayner, Wisconsin, invented the "motor toboggan," widely accepted as the first snowmobile ever built, and his pioneering work helped make winter exploration of the Wisconsin outdoors possible for people young and old.
