Sharon A. Lane served as a U.S. Army first lieutenant in the Army Nurse Corps, born in 1943 and killed in 1969 while serving with honor as a staff nurse at the 312th Evac Hospital in Chu Lai, Viet Nam from 1968 to 1969. She was killed by an enemy mortar round and was the only Army Nurse Corps officer to die as a result of hostile fire in Viet Nam.
