Built in 1848 by Isaac Lain, an industrialist and civic leader, this house was later owned from 1904 to 1944 by Edward R. Estberg, a banker and mayor, and has been the home of the American Legion since 1944. It is the county's finest example from the last century of the Greek Revival style of architecture, and the Historical American Buildings Survey in the Library of Congress attests its historical importance.
