Waddington Farms was the summer home of Mr. and Mrs. Earl W. Oglebay and later became Oglebay Park, one of the finest municipal parks in the country. The Oglebay family purchased the farmhouse and Waddington Farms in 1901 and undertook extensive renovations to the property. A plan created for Mr. Oglebay in 1909 proposed the arrangement of the grounds. Earl W. Oglebay and his business partner, David Z. Norton, stood outside Mr. Oglebay's grand mansion at Waddington Farms, whose entry hall reflected the extensive renovation. In 1926 the Oglebay Mansion stood as a prominent feature of the estate, and today the historic building is home to Oglebay Institute's Mansion Museum.
