Waddington Farm was the residence of Earl William Oglebay, 1849 — 1926, and Sallie Paull Howell Oglebay, 1856 — 1916, as well as their daughter Sarita Oglebay Burton, 1882 — 1930, and grandson Courtney Burton, Jr., 1912 — 1992. Colonel Oglebay gave Waddington Farm to the citizens of the City of Wheeling in 1926. The facility was the first in West Virginia to be accredited by the American Association of Museums and is on the National Register of Historic Places.
