Gen. Harrison's troops took Ft. Detroit in 1813, and he then went into Canada against the British, where Tecumseh was killed that year at the Battle of the Thames. Afterward, in 1813 the War Dept. sent over 5000 regular US Troop Rangers who burned the Delaware and Miami villages, leaving the Indian tenement a sullen, broken people. The Delawares were marched to land in Kansas in 1820, the Pottawattomies were marched west at bayonet point on the Trail of Death in 1838, with a fifth of them dying en route, and the Miamis were expelled in 1844.
