Alice Plantation House was built by Agricole Fuselier de la Claire, a planter and cousin of A. B. Roman, Governor of Louisiana from 1831 to 1835 and 1839 to 1843. A descendant of the builder floated the house up Bayou Teche from Baldwin to its present site.
