Lake Fausse Pointe State Park is a six thousand-acre Louisiana park in Iberia and Saint Martin parishes near the Atchafalaya Basin, on land once home to the Chitimacha. Centered on south Louisiana’s swampy waterways and lakeshore terrain, it offers day-use facilities, an interpretive center on local plants and wildlife, and overnight options from primitive hike-to and canoe-to campsites to R.V. sites and furnished cabins. Trails and marked canoe routes let visitors experience sloughs, swamps, and remote paddle-in campsites, making the park especially immersive for small-boat exploration. Its wildlife includes deer, raccoons, black bears, alligators, bobcats, and cottonmouths. In nineteen ninety-nine, part of the park was named for State Representative Bo Ackal.
