Ely Stage Stop in Kelseyville, California, centers on an around-1856 house that began at another site north of its present location and became a stagecoach stop in the 1880s on the route between Kelseyville and Lower Lake. The property traces back to the Jamison family’s 1859 Lost Springs Ranch and later S-Bar-S Ranch. Over time the building served as a hotel, post office, general store, school for wayward boys, gas station, bed and breakfast, and antique store. Saved from demolition, it was moved in 2007 and restored. Since opening in 2011, the site has grown into a museum and community gathering place interpreting Lake County transportation, agriculture, and daily life.
