Senator Roland Ephraim Chase built this historic home around 1903, the first brick home in Clintwood. His father, Captain John Perry Chase, C.S.A., a founder of Clintwood, gave the adjoining land for the Dickenson County Court House. Senator Chase raised his large family in this four-story home, with his law office on the ground level. The home was the focal point of town activities for almost fifty years.
