This memorial honors all veterans of Jackson County and is dedicated to those who made the supreme sacrifice in defense of the United States of America. Dedicated Nov. 11, 1989, it records the names of Jackson County veterans who served in World War I, World War II, the Korean Conflict, and the conflict in Vietnam, and it also inscribes major battlefields and theaters associated with those wars, including Chateau-Thierry, Flanders, the Philippines, North Africa, Anzio, Normandy, the Battle of the Bulge, Belleau Wood, Pearl Harbor, Coral Sea, Guadalcanal, Tarawa, the Siegfried Line, Hurtgen Forest, Iwo Jima, Midway, Remagen Bridge, Inchon, Pork Chop Hill, Heartbreak Ridge, Khe Sanh, Hamburger Hill, Iron Triangle, Okinawa, Chosin Reservoir, the 38th Parallel, Pusan Perimeter, Tet Offensive, Ia Drang Valley, War Zone C, Mekong Delta, and Danang.
