Author, playwright, and poet Thomas Lanier "Tennessee" Williams (1911-1983) was born in Columbus, Mississippi, and this site, formerly the rectory of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, was designated a Literary Landmark by Friends of Libraries U.S.A. in tribute to his life and writings.
