Nathan Hatch, a patriot buried here, fought four tours of duty in the Continental Army from 1776 to 1781. Born on Nov. 16, 1757, at Attleboro, MA, he first enlisted in July 1776 in Capt. Isaac Hodges Co. as a private and was discharged in Nov. 1780. He moved to Wisconsin in 1843 and settled land in Brookfield with two of his sons, Nathan Jr., who served in the War of 1812, and Edmund. Two of Edmund's sons, Alanson and Nathan H. Hatch, have Civil War markers here. Pvt. Hatch died on Nov. 10, 1847.
