Robert F. Sink served as the first commanding officer of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment from July 1942 to December 1945. Known as “Col. Bob” Sink, he later held the rank of lieutenant general in the U.S. Army. He was born on April 3, 1905, and died on December 13, 1965. He was associated with the mottos “Currahee” and “We Stand Alone.”
