Ozone Falls State Natural Area protects 43 acres in Tennessee centered on Ozone Falls, a 110-foot plunge waterfall on Fall Creek and the short gorge below it near the community of Ozone. Long noted by travelers crossing the Cumberland Plateau on the old Walton Road, the falls were once known as McNair Falls after a local miller in the 1860s. The nearby community took the name Ozone in 1896, and the waterfall eventually did as well. Established in 1973 and later expanded, the protected area preserves a dramatic and easily reached landscape that also became known as a film location.
