The Queen Mary was launched on September 28, 1934, and made her maiden voyage on May 27, 1936. One of the vessel’s four matched propellers drove her on the 14,555 mile Last Great Cruise from Southampton to Long Beach from October 31 to December 9, 1967. Made of manganese bronze, the propellers were milled from fifty-ton castings. Each measured 18 feet in diameter and weighed 32 tons.
