The Ettinger Building was constructed in 1903 and consecrated as the Adminstration Building in 1904. It was rebuilt following a major fire in May 1947. In 1961, it was named for Dr. George T. Ettinger, class of 1880, professor and first Dean of Muhlenberg College from 1904 to 1930. It was renovated in 1990-1991 as an academic building and rededicated on October 18, 1991.
