Mantua Bog State Nature Preserve, also known as Mantua Swamp, is a protected wetland in Mantua Township in northeastern Ohio, valued as a rare remnant of uncommon wetland ecosystems. Within a relatively small area, it contains an unusual variety of habitats, including swamp forest, boreal bog, and cattail marsh. Its botanical significance is especially high, with twenty-four state-listed plants identified there, including autumn willow, bunchflower, and cranberry. The site has also produced important wildlife records, including the 2000 discovery of a breeding population of the brush-tipped emerald dragonfly, previously unknown in Ohio. Recognized as a National Natural Landmark in 1976 and made a state nature preserve in 1990, it remains carefully protected with permit-only access.
