Originally part of St. Jones Hundred, Dover Hundred was renamed in 1823 and was bounded by Little Creek on the north and St. Jones Creek on the south, extending from the Delaware River to the Maryland Line. In 1877, Dover Hundred was divided into two Hundreds, called West Dover Hundred and East Dover Hundred.
