Vulcan's Throne is a cinder cone volcano on the North Rim of the Grand Canyon in Arizona, part of the Uinkaret volcanic field near Toroweap overlook. Formed during the Quaternary Period and cut by movement on the Toroweap Fault, it is a prominent volcanic landmark above the Colorado River. Its lava reached the river and helped create Lava Falls and Lava Falls Rapids, among the largest rapids on the Colorado. In 1914, George Corning Fraser climbed the cone and found steep, loose volcanic slopes with sparse sage and cacti. The volcano remains important for showing how volcanism reshaped the canyon floor and river.
