Elmer S. Dailey is a sunken wooden barge in Bridgeport Harbor, built in 1915 in Tonawanda, New York, as the Claire B. Follette and rebuilt and renamed in 1928 on Staten Island. An exceptionally rare Erie Canal boat, it is regarded as the only known surviving example of its type and one of the few remaining wooden-hulled canal boats. Rebuilt with diesel engines, it carried materials among ports in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut and could push another barge. After serving from 1941 to 1972, it sank with two other barges in 1974 and was later listed on the National Register of Historic Places for preserving both canal-era design and later diesel adaptation.
