1
This road began as the Sandtown Trail, traveled by several tribes of Creek Indians. It connected Sandtown on the Chattahoochee River near Atlanta, Georgia, with another Sandtown in Tallapoosa County, Alabama. Later it became Old Alabama Road, used by early white settlers, and at one time it served as a stagecoach route through this section.
