Mount Ashland Ski Area is a community-run ski area on 7,532-foot Mount Ashland in southern Oregon, with 44 trails on 200 acres, five lifts, and terrain from beginner slopes to expert runs in The Bowl. Local backcountry skiers used the mountain in the 1950s before a formal ski area was developed between 1961 and 1963 and opened on January 11, 1964. After multiple ownership changes, a 1991 grassroots campaign helped keep it open, and the City of Ashland transferred operations to the nonprofit Mount Ashland Association. That community-focused model continues alongside youth programs, sustainability recognition, recent improvements, and year-round recreation.
