Alexander Posey, born 2½ miles N.E. in 1873, was a Creek poet known for "Dew and the Bird," "Ode to Sequoyah," and other poems, a columnist famous for the "Fus Fixico" letters, and an editor of the "Muskogee Times" and the Eufaula "Indian Journal." He served as superintendent of the Creek Orphan School, was in charge of Creek enrollment for the Dawes Commission, and was a member of the House of Kings in the Creek Council. He met a tragic death in the North Canadian River flood in 1908.
