On February 27, 1992, the citizens of Warrick County dedicated a memorial to the men and women from the county who served in the United States Armed Forces in Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm, and to all military personnel involved in the liberation of Kuwait. It was offered as a token of appreciation for their bravery, sacrifices, and indelible spirit. Operation Desert Storm lasted from January 16, 1991 to February 27, 1991, and nine Hoosiers gave the full measure of devotion in this war.
