The Barony of the Rose
History
2
The rose's significance to Nazareth dates back to when Letitia Penn Aubrey was given 5,000 acres of land by her father, William Penn. The only payment necessary for the land was one rose to be delivered to her father on the 24th day of June every year. The original 5,000 acres included the borough of Nazareth and Upper Nazareth Township, and they became known as the Barony of the Rose.
