Wind Pudding Lake State Natural Area in Wisconsin protects the one hundred eighty-acre Wind Pudding Lake, its wetlands, and nearby uplands within the Northern Highland-American Legion State Forest. The site is significant for its sharply different lake basins. The eastern basin is the deepest, with a sand and gravel bottom and a strong population of sterile-rosette aquatic plants, including plantain shoreweed, which is rare or limited in Wisconsin. The central and western basins are much shallower, with muck bottoms and floating peat mats that support dense plant life such as sundew, purple bladderwort, yellow-eyed grass, and the rare Robbin's spike-rush. Most of the lake remains undeveloped.
