International Fiberglass called these figures its Mortimer Snerd line of giants, referencing famed ventriloquist Edgar Bergan's Mortimer Snerd dummy, though others called them the "Half Wit" giant and noted a resemblance to Alfred E. Newman of Mad Magazine fame. This example was likely made between 1966 and 1970, when the company was altering its original Muffler Man design to offer customers a wider variety of options. Its likely service included time at a mini-golf course, a hot dog stand, and inside the Wagon Wheel Bar owned by Max Sorenson in North Madison, Ohio, which explains the "WW" initials on its hat. It was the first giant purchased and restored by Joel Baker and his American Giants crew, stood in Baker's garden for several years, was shipped to California in 2017 for six years of restoration work, and was transported to the American Giants Museum on June 1, 2023.
