Construction of the Starrucca Viaduct was completed entirely with Pennsylvania Bluestone taken from numerous quarries in the surrounding hillside, including the furthest one at Stevens Point, Pennsylvania. Oxen and horses brought the stone to a staging area in Lanesboro, where chiselers shaped it for the bridge.
