The 110-foot-tall grain storage tower was once the center of a large family-owned grain and feed business and became Carrollton's most distinctive landmark after its erection in 1950. It stands on the site of the original Carrollton Feed Mills, which L.F. Blanton bought in 1931. The business name changed in the mid-1940s to Blanton Grain Company, and grain and feed produced and stored there were shipped by railroad from the east side of the building to customers worldwide. After Blanton's death in 1971, the company soon closed.
