Toe Jam Hill, a 425-foot summit on Bainbridge Island, is widely regarded as the island’s highest point and among the highest in Kitsap County, though its exact rank has been disputed against nearby Gazzam Lake Hill. The origin of its unusual name remains uncertain, with local tradition tying it to a settler named Torjam and other stories offering different conjectures. The hill became a well-known local landmark through demanding bicycle and running events. It also gained geological importance when LIDAR surveys in the 1990s identified the nearby Toe Jam Hill Fault, possibly related to the Seattle Fault. In 2011, part of the hill became Nutes Pond Park.
