Crater Peak is the highest summit of Grand Mesa, a broad Rocky Mountain highland in Colorado. Rising to 11,333 feet, it stands on the drainage divide between Grand Mesa National Forest and Gunnison National Forest, about 12.3 miles north-northwest of Paonia. Its location on the crest of Grand Mesa makes it the mesa’s top point and gives it prominence within this part of western Colorado.
