The men and women of the Town of Ledyard served their country in all wars, including the American Revolution, World War II, the Korea conflict, and Vietnam, and are remembered for serving in the defense of freedom. The remembrance is accompanied by lines from “In Flanders Fields” by John McCrae M.D.: “In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below.”
