Joseph Martin, born in 1740 and died in 1805, was a Revolutionary soldier, a Henry County, Virginia, Cherokee agent for the Continental Congress, and a figure connected with Virginia and North Carolina from 1777 to 1789. With his brother Maj. Brice Martin, he led the Powell’s Valley Expedition and established Martin Station in 1775. The descendants of Joseph Martin are associated with this history.
