Old Molson, founded in 1900, was a lively mining camp until a farmer claimed the whole town as part of his homestead. As the dispute raged, disgusted citizens founded New Molson half a mile north, and people, businesses, and the post office all moved there. Its railroad station, at 3708 feet, was the highest in the state. The original Molson then faded away, but its memories linger in its weather-worn buildings.
