Clear Creek Metro Park in Rockbridge, Ohio, is a major protected landscape in the Hocking Hills region, known for its Blackhand sandstone gorges and bluffs and for exceptional biodiversity, including more than 800 plant species and over 150 bird species. Its preservation began in 1973 with a donation from the Beck family, who required that most of the land become a state nature preserve to help prevent a planned reservoir from flooding the valley. Additional land, including acreage from Emily Benua, expanded the preserve. The reservoir project was abandoned, and by 2019 the park had grown to 5,470 acres, remaining foremost a conserved natural area.
