The Enfield–Suffield Covered Bridge was a wooden covered span over the Connecticut River that directly linked Enfield and Suffield, Connecticut, carrying traffic between Bridge Lane and Bridge Street. It became chiefly notable for its destruction in a flood on February 15, 1900, when half the bridge was swept away. During the collapse, New Haven Railroad agent Hosea Keach was carried downstream on part of the fallen span, climbed onto the roof, and was rescued with a rope by two railroad employees at the Warehouse Point railroad bridge. Afterward, Southern New England Telephone bought the remains, demolished the structure, and reused its piers to carry telephone wires across the river.
