Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Church began with a first church in Lanesboro in 1847, followed by a second church in Susquehanna in 1853, and the present church in 1876. The church is associated with the words, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God...and the Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us...” (John 1:1,14)
