Wingspread, the Herbert F. Johnson House in Wind Point near Racine, Wisconsin, was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright for Herbert Fisk Johnson Jr. and built in 1938 and 1939. Among Wright’s largest houses and regarded by him as the last of his Prairie-style designs, it features a central octagonal living space with four wings radiating outward, a low horizontal profile, and extensive windows opening to the landscape. The 30-acre estate includes varied grounds, a pool, and outdoor sculpture. Given to the Johnson Foundation in 1960, it became an educational conference center while remaining open for tours and gaining national historic recognition.
