An educator whose 52 years of service in education included study at the University of Georgia, teaching in Maysville, Cornelia, and Buford from 1920 to 1933, serving as principal and coach at Statham School from 1933 to 1957, serving as superintendent of Barrow County Schools from 1957 to 1965, and serving as professor of education at Brenau College from 1965 to 1973. Born in Ila, Georgia, on Feb. 12, 1900, he was named Barrow County Educator of the Year in 1978. He married Weebie Jones on Dec. 17, 1922, and as a Baptist served as deacon, Sunday School superintendent, and teacher for 42 years. His influence touched the lives of many students and he is remembered with love and profound respect.
