The Court of Flags is a creative reimagining of the original Court of Flags, a stage where bands played and dignitaries, including President Ronald Reagan, spoke to thousands of visitors from around the world, with flags of each of the 22 participating nations flying above the stage and still represented there today. The modern fountains were created with the park's redesign in 2002. The Lifestyle and Technology Center, now the World's Fair Exhibition Hall, was an interior mall featuring scores of exhibits, from new electronic gadgets to an African American exhibit touted as the most comprehensive ever presented in an American world's fair. At the far end of the Festival Lawn, the East Tennessee Veterans Memorial was designed by Knoxville architect Lee Ingram in 2008 to honor all the region's soldiers who died in U.S. wars since 1917; each is listed on the marble columns by county, the site hosts Memorial Day services each year, and the names and deeds of 14 Medal of Honor recipients from East Tennessee are also inscribed.
