Fuller Gardens in North Hampton, New Hampshire, occupies three seaside acres in Little Boars Head and began as part of Runnymede-by-the-Sea, the summer estate of businessman and Massachusetts governor Alvan T. Fuller. First designed in 1927 by Arthur Shurcliff, the grounds were redesigned and expanded in 1931 by Olmsted Brothers into formal Colonial Revival rose gardens after Fuller acquired neighboring land. The site now includes a Japanese garden, English perennial borders, seasonal flower beds, a hosta garden, a dahlia area, and a conservatory for tropical and desert plants. Operated by the Fuller Foundation, it preserves a historic estate landscape as a public garden on the New Hampshire coast.
