Kittatinny Point offers access to the top of Mount Tammy for a bird’s-eye view of the Delaware Water Gap and to a national park with forty miles of the Middle Delaware National Scenic and Recreational River, sixty-seven thousand acres of forested mountains, riverine valleys, and fertile floodplains, tumbling waters, rhododendron ravines, and hemlock forests. The area includes more than one hundred miles of hiking trails along streams, ridges, and mountaintops, twenty-seven miles of the Appalachian Trail, more than one hundred miles of scenic roadways, calm flowing river and cascading streams for fishing, the scenic Delaware River for paddling, bountiful wildlife from river to ridge top, historic villages, structures, and landscapes from the valley’s colonial past, and agricultural fields that have been farmed for more than a thousand years.
